Obama Had a $400 Million Edge more»»
The final presidential fundraising reports are in and Barack Obama's campaign raised roughly $745 million for his 2008 presidential campaign, ABC News reports.
By comparison, Sen. John McCain raised roughly $320 million, including the $84 million from entering into the public financing system.

Hutchison Looking at Texas Gubernatorial Bid more»»
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) launched a committee to explore a run for Texas governor in 2010, the Austin American Statesman reports. She would likely challenge current Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) in a GOP primary.
Early chatter: "She'll endeavor to raise millions of dollars by the end
of the 2009 legislative session so that her state kitty looks as strong
as the one held by Perry. The unconfirmed word is she's going to
transfer $1 million up front from her federal campaign treasury to get
the state effort rolling. And the special twist, for her, is that she
may legally raise money during the session. State law forbids state
elected officials including Perry, from doing so during the session."
Meanwhile, the Dallas Morning News suggests Karl Rove is advising Hutchison.
