Clinton's Tactics Questioned more similar news »
"At a time when Sen. Hillary Clinton is increasingly relying on superdelegates to vault her to the Democratic Party's nomination, a handful of undecided and pledged superdelegates are coming forward to say her campaign's tactics in recent weeks are doing more harm than good," according to NBC News.
"The Democratic Party insiders say they believe Clinton's direct attacks against Sen. Barack Obama in recent days are hurting the party and its chances in November, and also say it is showing a calculated, desperate-to-win side of Clinton that they dislike."

Michigan Primary Found Unconstitutional more similar news »
A federal judge "ruled Michigan's presidential primary law
unconstitutional and blocked the state from giving voter lists from the
Jan. 15 election to the state's major political parties," the Detroit News reports.
"The ruling likely further damages the already small hope that the
Democratic Party would honor the Jan. 15 results. It is unlikely that
national Democratic officials would relent in their opposition to
seating delegates based on a disputed vote that has now been declared
flawed under the constitution."

Q: It just will?
Reid: Yep.
Q: Magically?

From the latest Evans-Novak Political Report: "McCain won't pick a running mate any time soon. But the front-runner in the VP derby may be Rob Portman -- former Ohio congressman, former U.S. trade representative and former OMB director. He appears to have fewer negatives than any other possibility."

Many Democrats Would Back McCain more similar news »
A new Gallup Poll finds a "sizable proportion" of Democrats would vote for Sen. John McCain next November if their favored candidates does not win the Democratic nomination.
"Clinton supporters appear to be somewhat more reactive than Obama supporters. Twenty-eight percent of the former indicate that if Clinton is not the nominee -- and Obama is -- they would support McCain. That compares to 19% of Obama supporters who would support McCain if Obama is not the nominee -- and Clinton is."

Will Gore Step In? more similar news »
"History may record that there were three distinct windows of
opportunity for Al Gore to play a decisive role in this year's
Democratic primary contest," according to the New York Observer.
"The first was in the days leading up to Super Tuesday,
on Feb. 5, when it seemed Barack Obama could do no wrong and a critical
mass of establishment endorsements was piling up in his favor."
"The second occurred this month when Florida and
Michigan seemed to rule out re-votes, delivering a crushing blow to
Hillary Clinton's hopes of catching up in the popular vote."
"And the third -- and perhaps most irresistible -- will arrive
in June, after the voting is over, but before the Clinton campaign can
launch a final, all-out push to make Mr. Obama the unelectable
candidate."

Obama Declines to Check Box for Public Financing more similar news »
Sen. Barack Obama posted the last six years of his tax returns on the
Internet yesterday. Aside from his soaring income as a book author, reporters have found little to discuss.
But Ken
Vogel points out something interesting: "Curiously, the Obamas checked the box to set aside $3 for the
presidential public financing system on their taxes between 2000
through 2004, but they did not do so in 2005 or 2006. Barack Obama, who
has positioned himself as a champion for reducing the role of money in
politics, has been criticized for backing away from his commitment to
participate in the program as a presidential candidate."

North Carolina Grows in Importance more similar news »
Sen. Hillary Clinton's "dwindling chances to be president may hinge on what happens in North Carolina," the Winston Salem-Journal reports.
However, her aides "insist that North Carolina is not a 'must-win' state."
"But many Democrats, both nationally and in North Carolina, increasingly view Sen. Barack Obama as the nominee-to-be. For that perception to shift, it would take momentous changes in the dynamics of the race - including, perhaps, a surprise Clinton victory in North Carolina, where Obama is heavily favored."
