Should Obama Try for a Knockout in Pennsylvania? more similar news »
John Baer, an influential Philadelphia Daily News columnist, says Sen. Barack Obama could actually win the Pennsylvania primary on April 22. "In a state that pollsters and analysts call tailor-made for Hillary Clinton, Obama is seriously challenging the fit. So much so, some wonder if an unraveling's in the offing."
However, The Politico cautions: "While it may be tempting for Obama to launch a final assault, some
experts say, there are limits to what he can expect to accomplish given
the state's unique demographic mix and the striking consistency of
primary voting patterns thus far."
Political Insider: It's a race in Pennsylvania.

Republicans Seek to Change Primary Calendar more similar news »
A key RNC panel "has approved a plan that would dramatically
restructure the presidential nomination process," CQ Politics reports. "But it still has to surmount major obstacles to replace the current front-loaded schedule of primaries and caucuses."
The so-called Ohio Plan "seeks to create a
more orderly and drawn-out presidential nomination process that
involves more voters, discourages advertising-heavy campaigns in big
states, and promotes one-on-one retail campaigning in which candidates
personally interact with voters."
"It would place nearly
all of the states and territories into four 'pods' with roughly equal
populations and electoral vote allocations."

McCain Prepares to Take Public Financing more similar news »
"In another sign that John McCain is moving toward accepting public
financing this fall, the Republican's campaign is returning about $3
million in checks to contributors who have given money for his general
election campaign, funds he could not use if he opts into the public
system," the Boston Globe reports.
"The move is largely procedural, and McCain's campaign said yesterday
that it has not yet decided whether to accept public funding or to
raise money on its own for the November presidential election. But the
decision to return checks - which was made as the Democratic candidates
announced raising $60 million combined in March, nearly as much as
McCain had raised for the entire campaign through February - indicates
that McCain is laying the groundwork for doing so."
